Principle questions ask you to find the general rule that a specific situation illustrates (or that would justify a specific conclusion) — abstracting from the specific to the general.
1. Identify vs. Apply
Today's variant gives you the specific case and asks for the general principle. (Tomorrow's counterpart, Principle II, flips this: given a principle, apply it to a new case.)
2. Match Scope Precisely
The correct principle must be broad enough to cover the specific case, but not so broad it covers things the stimulus doesn't support.
