Diagnostic PrepTest: Full, Timed, Four Sections
Sitting Protocol
- Use LawHub PrepTest 140 or 141 (free, current format, four sections including the unscored experimental).
- Sit at a desk, phone away, one uninterrupted sitting. Take the 10-minute break after section 2 — don't pause otherwise.
- There is no penalty for a wrong answer. Guess on every question you don't finish. A blank answer and a wrong guess score identically; a guess has a chance of being right.
- Before you see your score, mark every question you were genuinely unsure of with a small symbol on your scratch paper (a star, a check — anything consistent). This is required input for tomorrow's blind review, so don't skip it.
Why take this nearly cold, after only four days of orientation? Because technique takes weeks to move a score, and a diagnostic's entire value is as a true baseline. Taking it after two weeks of prep just gives you a worse baseline with more noise in it.
Results to Record
In the Performance panel at the bottom of this page (or any page), log: the PT number, your raw score per section (LR-1, LR-2, RC, and the experimental — yes, record the experimental too, even though it's unscored, as extra diagnostic data), your overall scaled score, how much time was left (or over) in each section, and how many questions you had to guess on cold.
Scoring
Use the scaled score LawHub reports directly — its conversion chart is specific to the exact test you took. Don't try to eyeball a conversion from a different test's chart; the raw-to-scaled curve shifts slightly test to test.
Peek into Tomorrow
Monday, the diagnostic becomes data: a full blind-review pass, your first error-log entries, and — based on the actual number you got today — a concrete decision about whether the compressed February 2027 path is even on the table, or whether you're solidly on the April 2027 core plan.
