Must Be False / Cannot Be True

The inverse of Must Be True: find the answer that directly contradicts the stimulus's stated facts. Rare but mechanically simple once you recognize it.

1. Recognize the Inversion

Four choices are consistent with (or follow from) the stimulus; the correct one contradicts it directly. Treat every choice as a Must-Be-True candidate, then flip your selection.

2. Contradiction, Not Just Unlikely

The correct answer must be logically incompatible with the stated facts, not merely improbable given them.

Q1. Stimulus: "Every member of the committee voted yes. The proposal passed with exactly 7 yes votes." Which cannot be true?

A. The committee has 7 members

B. The committee has 5 members

C. The committee has more than 7 members and some abstained

D. Nothing can be determined

Correct answer: C. If every member voted yes and there were exactly 7 yes votes, the committee has exactly 7 members — more members with abstentions contradicts 'every member voted yes.'
